Yetta Sher Solutions Award & Micro Grants

The Jewish Federation of Broward County is offering up $600,000 for Innovative Solutions

The Jewish Federation of Broward County is pleased to announce the Yetta Sher Solutions Award and Micro Grants which in 2019, will award up to $500,000 as a "Solutions Award" and $100,000 to be awarded to as many as to 10 Micro Grants to support innovative, impactful programs.

Jewish Federation of Broward County President and CEO, Michael Balaban explained,
"We often turn to direct service partners and push them to either do more with the same funds, or offer up too little for them to focus attention.  As a funder that sees the big picture of challenges faced by the community we felt that if we wanted to spark true innovation, we needed to put real money on the table and free up the thinking to allow for more creativity.  From the person working out of their garage to legacy organizations, we know that there are talented minds that given resources might be able to solve pressing challenges. With a prize of up to $500,000 for one organization and $100,000 in micro grants for up to 10 organizations, we believe traditional and non-traditional partners will come to the table with innovative demonstration projects on how to address community challenges and create greater opportunities."

Demonstration projects eligible for grants should be focused on multi-year plans, which address one of the following community challenges:
  • Increasing dignity in aging
  • Opportunities for those with special needs or from special populations
  • Solutions around financial independence
  • Increasing engagement and vibrancy in Jewish life
  • Connecting community to form positive relationships with Israel and global Jewry

The Yetta Sher Solutions Award and Micro Grants are intended to inspire individuals, organizations and agencies to develop and implement new or enhanced projects that meet significant community needs or create significant opportunities in Broward County. Applicants must be a 501c3, can be located anywhere in the world as long as they have a US affiliate and the project must take place in Broward County, Florida. The award determinations will be made in February 2019 and funds will be distributed over two years for the Solutions Award and over one year for the Micro Grants.
