Mission
To care for abused, neglected and abandoned children in the Jewish community, and to work in partnership with the entire child welfare community.
Objectives/Services
JAFCO serves abused, neglected and abandoned children from within the South Florida Jewish community. JAFCO feels that quality child welfare services can best be provided by the support of a caring community--whose energies are managed and focused through a professional community-based child welfare organization. JAFCO currently provides a full continuum of programs and services including family preservation, foster care, adoption, independent living, mentoring, emergency (crisis) shelter and group home programs to 225 children, including up to 36 children who may live at the JAFCO Children's Village, a 5.5-acre residential facility opened in January, 2003. Capacity at the Children's Village will grow to 50 when the final two group homes are opened in 2005. JAFCO is prepared to act in the best interests of children served, whether through providing support to children within their biological families or, when necessary, to assume the role as substitute parents. JAFCO will provide love and assistance to children in need for as long as necessary - which for some will be a life-long commitment.
